Three stories in support of the boys.

The Look of Love

"Silent Understanding"

Greg Sanders picks up the last of the evidence bags and hauls them over to the Denali, carefully setting them in the back of the vehicle. Inside, the radio is still blaring Brass’s voice loud enough to be heard over the entire crime scene.

“419! We have a possible 419 on Tremont!”

Another voice cuts in.

“Found a DB out behind the convenience store on Alastair, CSI needed.”

Detective O’Reilly.

And another voice.

“Officer down! Officer down! Backup units requested!”

Sofia Curtis.

Greg looks over at Nick Stokes, the only other CSI at the scene. He’s standing with his back to the younger man, hands on his hips, surveying the crime scene they’ve just processed. The bodies have already been removed but it’s still too easy to see where they had been. The two parents on one side of a human sized rock had tried to fight their attacker. The little boy and the little girl on the other side of the rock, hiding, had no chance.

Seeing the bagged and bloody ax still in his hands Greg puts it with the rest of the evidence as they both hear Detective Vartann’s voice over the radio, screaming about another crime scene.

Nick’s shoulders slump downward as his arms fall at his side. Greg watches him for a moment before slowly walking over to stand beside his co-worker. Neither say anything as they stare at the crime scene together. From the Denali more voices can be heard calling for backup. Nick takes his eyes away from the deadly scene and stares at his feet. Greg still doesn’t say anything. But Nick finally does.

“It never ends,” he whispers, his voice starting to crack.

A pained expression fills his face as he turns to Greg.

“God, here I am starting to fall apart and...” he stutters, his Texan accent coming thicker now. “I didn’t mean for this to happen. It’s not the job, Greg. I promise. It won’t do this to you in a few years. It’s just...” he stops, unable to go on, as he struggles to hold back the emotions wanting to flood forth.

Greg isn’t smiling. But he isn’t shocked or angry either. Instead the expression on his face is one of compassion and understanding, perhaps even more. As Nick turns away again Greg reaches out and grabs his arm in a gentle grip. Nick turns back and Greg’s hand slides down to his, holding it firmly in his own.

He still doesn’t say anything, only meets Nick’s eyes when Nick looks into his with a questioning look. But Greg’s expression never wavers. He’s calm. His deep chocolate eyes telling Nick he’s there for him, that he’ll always be there for him.

A slight smile comes to Nick’s features after a while and he begins to smile again.

Greg tugs on Nick’s hand, pulling him towards the Denali, and Nick willingly follows.

“Come on, we’ve got work to do,” Greg finally says.

Reaching Around

"Falling"

“Nick, you sure this is a good idea?” Greg asks, as the older CSI helps him tighten the harness around his body.

“Greggo, stop complaining. Somebody put the body on that semi’s roof and you’re the lighter of the two of us. I can easily lift you up there with the pulley to collect the rest of the evidence. Don’t worry.”

Greg sighs, looking up at the large truck parked in the CSI garage as Nick hands him his field kit.

“You promise not to drop me?”

“I swear on my soul.”

Nick pulls on the rope, hoisting Greg into the air, towards the truck’s roof. Greg reaches out with his free hand and pulls himself closer to it, setting his kit down. But his grip is slippery with perspiration, his hand slips, and he swings away from the truck.

“Nick!”

“I got you!”

Greg swings in the air several times as he tries to regain a hold on the truck

“Hurry up G! I can’t hold you up there forever!”

One look down tells Greg Nick is straining already. He rubs his sweaty palms on his jeans and prepares to grab hold again, but this one last chance isn’t given an opportunity to happen as Nick’s hold on the rope loosens and Greg is now falling.

“Niiiiiiiiick!!!!” he screams.

Then he’s landing, and he tries to roll as he hits the concrete floor to save a few bones but he can’t because he doesn’t hit concrete.

“Greg?” a strained Texan accent catches his ear and he turns his head to see what saved his bones.

“Nick?”

The other CSI is right beneath him, their faces mere inches apart. Eyes meet and neither one moves for several long minutes.

“You need CPR?” Greg asks. “You’re not breathing.”

“I think I just...”

“What’s going on?” Grissom asks, walking in and finding them on the ground together.

“Nick broke something,” Greg tells Grissom as he scrambles to his feet.

“No I didn’t! I’m just fine!” Nick gets up.

Their boss looks from them to the harness to the roof of the semi where Greg’s field kit patiently awaits his arrival.

“No, you broke my heart! You promised not to let me fall,” the youngest says with an injured expression before a wide grin, aimed only at Nick, begins to appear.

“Perhaps a ladder might have been better?” Grissom suggests, with an arched eyebrow before he leaves.

“Yeah, right.”

Nick grabs one from the wall and places it against the truck.

“This time you go up there. I’ll hold the ladder.”

Nick looks at Greg sideways and smiles.

“Maybe I meant to do that,” he winks.

“Oh, I know you did.”

Halfway up he stops and looks back at Greg.

“You know, I was going to acquiesce to your request...”

Greg’s eyebrows raise.

“Since I haven’t been breathing too well and all.”

“Hmmmm... Too bad Grissom walked in then. We coulda done something about that.”

Running After the Suspect

"Passing the Ship Torch"

A/N: The night before “A La Cart” premiered I had a dream that Warrick took off his wedding ring because he’d divorced Tina. He gave it to Greg while Nick was standing nearby, though the only reason I have is because Greg lost something valuable of his own, and Warrick thought his ring could replace that. Now, in that episode, the divorce actually happened, but I’m wondering really WHY Warrick gave the ring to Greg in my dream. This story is one slightly humorous, cute theory into the relationships on CSI. (TPTB is The Powers That Be, as known in the forums.)

“Why are we in the writers offices?” Nick asked as he, Warrick, and Greg snuck into a dark building.

“Official business requires an official office,” Warrick replied.

Once they were inside an office with the door shut Warrick turned to face his friends.

“Greg, I know there’s something you’ve been wanting for a long time from our conversations before.”

Greg nodded. “Seven years. But what does that have to do with anything?”

Nick looked between them in confusion as Warrick pulled off his wedding ring.

“TPTB gave me this when I married Tina, when they finally allowed a sub relationship to GSR.”

Greg’s face fell. “Why are you taking it off?”

“She wanted more screen time and I couldn’t convince her that we were the Sub Ship to GSR, that, we weren’t even technically a Ship, that we didn’t even have a nickname like everyone else. You know: Cuff ‘Em, Yo!Bling, The Love... She couldn’t handle it, so we broke up.”

“But you’ve still got the Ship Torch,” Greg nodded towards the ring. “Why would you pass up Yo!Bling?”

“Because, I’ve had my time in the Ship light on the show. Granted it wasn’t long, but it’s time I pass this on to someone else more deserving. At least for a little while. That Yo!Bling does look really good.” Warrick chuckled.

“What do you mean?”

Greg’s hands began to shake uncontrollably as Warrick placed the ring in his hand.

“I’m passing this to you, so that you can get what you’ve been waiting for.”

Warrick smiled as Greg’s eyes widened and patted Nick on the back.

“The Love sounds nice.”

Then he was gone, the door shutting quietly behind him.
Greg turned to face Nick, his cheeks in a bright blush.

“I’m sorry, my hands are shaking and they won’t stop.”

“I could do something,” Nick began, the confusion gone and hope in his eyes. “No. It’s against the rules.”

“Rules were made to be broken, Nicky,” Greg whispered, looking up at the older man through his lashes. “Sometimes you just have to screw TPTB.”
Nick reached out and took Greg’s shaking hands in his and instinctively began to rub small circles into them. Greg smiled a wide smile that easily lit up the room.

“You’ve really wanted this all along?”

“I’ve been screwing TPTB for years. I just want the world to know how I feel about you...except Ecklie. We can be cannon and...best of all...I can kiss you on national television! Besides, you and I both know how many times we’ve ad-libbed the subtext for our relationship into the plot.”

“I lost count.” Nick smiled, then looked worried. “Please tell me I can love you without repercussions.”

Greg held up the ring Warrick had given him.

“I’ve got the Ship Torch to prove it.”

Nick pulled Greg closer. “Screw TPTB. I love our Ship name. And I love you.”

Their lips met in a soft, sweet kiss.

“I love you too... and our fans.”

The first one is soo cute you can just tell how much he cares about Nick. The second is flirty and made me smile. Sigh, I could never write anything this good.
